Default lowering a couple inches?

ive heard of people just shortening the stock springs, but then the ride is even more hell. lets say i was wanting to lower my car a couple inches but only want to buy lowering springs....is there any real problem id come into with stock shocks and everything but after market lowering springs?
and what brands are the best for the money?

Trust me, if you're going to mod your car, do it right the first time. When I first got my EJ8 I bought lame-o coilover sleeves and stock struts, I hated it, I wished I would've never touched it. Now I have a decent/street set up: OmniPower Coilover sleeve kit with KYB GR-2's I've had this setup for the longest time and it still rides nice, dumped too. What I'm trying to say is, get a nice set of decent struts to go along with your lowering springs, it'll pay off in the end.

just get the tein ss. might as well spend a good chunk of change right off the bat. then buying crappy ones and changing your mind later and spending more money. you can find them on here for cheap

Springs are easy to install, but you're supposed to use a spring compressor unless you want to zing suspension bits about the garage.

Honestly, if you're even considering cutting your stock springs, you probably shouldn't lower your car. If you drop it incorrectly, you begin to hate driving your own car and want to take your g/f's car everywhere. If you're not ready to invest in springs and struts, don't bother with suspension.

I've been through three suspensions... started with skunk2 coilovers on stock struts (bouncy as **** -- worse handling than stock), then h&r sports on tokico blues (great setup), finally Tein SS (the best so far).

Goddamn, I'm a wordy bitch.

im running KYB AGX with my eibach sportlines, and i love the ride. of coarse the AGX are adjustable making it even more to my liking. if you dont want to shell out the dough wait for a better time. stock struts will blow out in no time at all with any lowering springs.

riding on stock shocks is fine...its NOT fine if your riding on it for years but it will hold its ground for a good amount of time...just make sure to get some good quality springs that dont drop too much and you'll be fine...ride quality compared to stock is going to be very bumpy but you'll get used to it...

springs on stock shocks is an ok ride . coilovers on stock shocks sucks . springs is easy to install . springs is a good ride . coilover sucky ride. but if you want a lower ride then jus get coilovers with good shocks or jus get the whole sturt damper kit . and dont cut ur springs

BS. There are several springs out there that will work fine with stock shocks, so don't say that. On my old 93 coupe I had Eibach Pro Kit on stock shocks for years and it never gave me any problems and rode fine. I would get Pro Kits or Tein S-Tech's for stock shocks. They are not that aggressive and will give a good ride.

true, but the eibach pro kit only drops what .8", im talking atleast 1.5". and i didnt mean that the ride will be bad because it wont, it should be close to stock with a descent lowering spring and stock damper. i meant that the stock damper will blow the seal quickly with any descent drop.

suspension tech springs are good. my cousin has some on his ek and it rides smooth. it takes turns like a champ. he got some online at nopi for about $90. it dropped his car about 2.25-2.30
