could a bad crank positon sensor make my ecu go into limp mode?
a crank fluctuation sensor for obd2 is used only to detect misfire in a certain cylender, i ran my obd1 gsr sawp on a obd2 ecu for a little while which did not have a crank sensor. it throws a code, but had no effect on engine performance. its the same as a failed secondary o2 sensor, yes it throws a cel, but has no effect on the way the motor runs at all. the crank sensor is there to meet obd2 standards only. thats why all jdm motors regardless of what year dont have secondary o2 sensors, or crank sensors.
