Default bouncing idle

I have an 89 dx hatch that I'm going to do a swap to soon, but for the time being I'm running the stock motor dpfi (still dunno code). Anyway after the car warms up the idle starts to bounce from about 750 to 1500. I was tinkering this afternoon and got the car to operating temp (when the idle starts bouncing)and, started checking vac lines (heard that leaking vac line could cause this) they all seemed ok. I had a prob with the hose going from the egr valve to the intake, when the hose was on it made this horrible hum or almost whistle. I took it off and put a small filter on the egr valve, and it stopped the sound I was hearing. Any way today with the car running I unplugged the egr valve and it idled smooth. Question is since I'm gonna swap anyway, can I remove the egr vavle and clean it some how, or should I just live with it for now. I heard that a new egr was pretty pricey and don't want to waste money one something that I won't be able to use after swap

I just got done checking on my prob with the bouncing idle, and if I can take apart my egr valve. I could and it seems to have corrected my problem. There is two bolts holding the egr on the intake to the r of the throtlebody, and two fuel lines. I removed the coolent lines and unhooked the wires. pulled off the egr. On the l side of egr there is three screws remove them (I had a bunch of white gunk in there) and took some carb cleaner and sprayed the hell out of it. You may have to take a flathead screwdriver to it to scrape some of the funk out of it. There is also two openings that go into the intake, one has a screen on it. I also sprayed the hell out of it (it was all carbed up) I then put everything back together, started the car, let it warm to operating temp, and no more bouncing idle. Hope this helps others. A good way to find out if the prob is the egr is to start the car let it warm up to the point that it starts to bounce, and unplug the egr if it stops then chances are that thats your prob also
