ok got my d16 swap done and am having trouble with the idle in my 93 civic hatch. it is doing the humpty dance (idle is jumping from 1.5k to 2.5k). made sure there was no vac leak and that there was enough coolant in the car and too the intake manifold. I think it may be the IAC valve. when the IAC valve is unplugged the car idles PERFECT...once plugged back in, it goes back to the humpty dance. so does this mean i have a bad IAC valve and should order a new one?

Try cleaning it with some carb cleaner, be sure to get all the crap out of it
Clean the electrical connector with the same stuff and put dielectric grease on it

yeah i did that..still nothin..thinkin it just might be bad?...not really sure though

The same thing happened to me. whenever i unplugged the iacv the car would idle fine, then whenever i replugged it, my car would be idling like crazy. I switched out the iacv to a working one and it still idled like crap. before you go get another iacv try checking the fitv, which was my problem.

^theres a good writeup for the FITV. i'm having this same problem on my stock d15b7 and will be attempting it this weekend. high *** constant idle at 2k at all times except when the car is in gear. i'll also be cleaning the iacv and fitv
