Default have some ?s on buildin a race motor for my integra

Hi

i have purchased a 97 integra gsr for 1500
it has a blown motor i have rebuilt the motor and tranny to pass smog
now im lookin to build a street engine for it
i want to build a seperate engine so that all i have to do when it comes time to smog all i have to do is swap it
i was thinkin 2 things gettin a type r engine and keep it stock but the cheapest i am able to find is 5500 also i was thinkin do a frankestein engine wit crv block vtec head but im not sure whick one of the two will make more horse power ?
anyways im up to any other sugestions im lookin to make about 200-250 horse power willin to spend bout 3000 max let me know if its possible and let me know wut u think to do
thanks

A stock itr engine is only slightly faster than a gsr.A crv/vtec engine built right will make much more power than a stock itr.

The frank engine will give you nice torque but it's a difficult swap (by that i mean actually building the engine set up) compared with the Itr...that being said the ITr is pricey (like a K20) and so are the parts and stuff...I agree that an LS built would be nice....I have a B18c1 that I'm building up (all motor)....if i had all the money i could get i would get the ITr otherwise i like the frank....it's different everyone has a blown B18 or something similar (myself included lol). Finally the Frank might not be as reliable since you basically make it yourself (or have someone do it). I forget how the K20 swaps in a teg...it's bigger and in a Civ you need like diff mounts to make it sit right.... the newest Itr has a K20 in it (duh) but it's also a diff chass.

wow long winded i know....good luck man

yeah but the RSX is still the teg in japan

for engine sites see the following:

http://www.jspecautosports.com/

yeah it's just one site but they have all the engines you need everything for a swap they have charts for ECU's and conversion harness requirements. this guy ishmael runs it and he is a really nice guy i have bought three engines from him already. Each one runs awesome! they are used obviously just so you know. just buy new axels and you will also have to get special mounts to make the K20 sit lower....there was a site that was all about the k20 swap i forget what it was called ...hybrid something....they sold really nice packages and everything....k20 is a big swap...since it's cable shifting you'll need to cut holes and what not....also check out hybridgarage.com....they have good info too.

good luck man!
