my engine overheats
alright...i drive a '93 accord stick....i ll drive my car say.....75 mph on the highway for about 15-20 minutes.....then when i stop at a light, or something like this, the needle starts to raise on the temperature gage. it goes up slowly, but sometimes it reaches up there. when i start moving, the needle goes back to normal. now when i do turn of the car, the fan kicks in. why is this happening, i have changed the thermostat several times. could it be any other sensor, or the radiator may be clogged?
i'd say do the following
turn your a/c on and see if the problem persists. If it does not, then I think you have a problem with your primary fan or relay

I have the same problem, however my fans never kick on
. Still have not found out why as my dad and I have checked everything. Hoping to figure it out over Spring Break, or at least before warmer weather comes.

I think the problem is the fan switch on the therostat housing. When it is idling hot, remove the connector and jump the connector with a wire or paperclip. If the fan comes on and the temp drops, replace the switch.
Dude,
Change the t- stat as soon as possible.
Although the fan kicks off when the car is idle, it is not getting sufficient coolent while in motion as the t-stat does not opens up.
The engine is getting cooled because of the cold air from outside. if you notice, it gets cooler while you are driving on a downslop or flat roads.
I have faced this problem before, and the culprit was t-stat.
It won't cost you a lot to change the stat and you can even do DIY

If you have changed the t-stat, and still you have the problem, then the second culprit may be the coolent temperature sensor.
This is just located near the t-stat and will cost you max $ 20 at Pepboys

my car, 91, when i turn it off the fan will kick in for about 10 mins, then go off. i have changed the t-stat, and the radiator is good, any sugestions of what this might be???
and my temperature gauge is always reading hot, i dont know how to fix this either, any sugestions on that will be helpful.
