Air travels through vents when heat or ac is not on....
Im not sure if this is normal or not. I dont think it is but today for example its about 5 degrees. My car is already cold to begin with when i first start it up but it feels that the car is getting even colder when I start moving because cold air travels through the vents when nothing is turned on. Same thing occurs during the summer. I have to close off each vent individually in order to block the cold air. Is it possible that there might be some kind of leak somewhere?
mine does that too, its because i use the button that pulls air from the outside, so its more forcing it through the vents when you move.
when i switch it to circulate inside air, it still does it a little, but not nearly as bad.

It's called positive ventalation, and it's primary function is to ensure a fresh air supply in the event of a cabin/exhaust leak.
If it should become bother-some, try selecting the recirculation function. You'll pull air from inside the car, as opposed to drawing it from outside.
You're a braver man than I am. I enjoy fresh air just as much as the next guy, but what in %^$ are you doing driving around New Hampshire with the heat turned off??

my CL does something like that, the climate control keeps the temp i had on before i turned it off. so in other words me turning off the climate doesnt really matter, the hot or cold air will still come in through the vents. would using the recirculation bottom work for me as well.
My '99 does this to an extent. The way around it is to put it on floor only (or defrost only), then that gets most of the air and very little comes out the main vents.
Later, once the car is hot (or cool) enough, I just adjust the temperature gauge to whatever is comfortable.

It should.
You might ask how air could be circulating w/out the fan running?, there's a real simple answer to it.
The Outside Air Inlet System intakes air from the high pressure region at the bottom of the windshield. At speed, theres a positive pressure differential between it and the cabin interior; thus the flow w/out the fan.
Recirculation Function closes this off and reroutes the air intake into the vehicles interior (That's why the louder fan noise) at the dashboard's r/side. The vent air temp will get no colder than what's already in the car.

With outside air selected, my 4th gen blows out the left drivers vent regardless of vent selection. Put it on floor and the left vent still blows. Recirculation totally kills it though.
