Default RPM guage isn't accurate after 6500 rpm

Hey guys,

I have an issue with my rpm guage. I just noticed yesterday. I decide to VTAK mah shyt................yO!! When i did, I noticed the guage SLOWLY and inconsistenly raised after ~6500 rpm. The car ran fine too!! I tried it again this morning and the same thing happened. Car runs fine, just the RPM guage isn't reading correctly. I NEVER had an issue with it before.

Below 6500 rpm, the guage reads correctly.

Any ideas?

I have noticed that mine is off like 200-300 rpms comparing it to my vafc and once vtec hits it really goes off, so same problem so so

Come on AndyD you know your ****!

The stock guages are off usually. I've heard estimates of 100RPM's, and I've heard as high as 500++ rpms off. Not really something you can fix I dont' think, just grab a after market one.

Thanks, I take that as a compliment.

However, this is NOT that kind of post! My guage is not reading like it used to. At ~6500 rpm.....as the engine rpms are climbing, the guage won't move, then, when it does, it is inconsistent.

Trust me, the guage is not working like it is supposed to. It worked as it should (with it being off a little) perfectly fine until recently. I mean, I don't run my car hard and I rarely go above 3500 rpm while going through the gears, but now it is not working like it used to.

I will try to take a video of it to show what I mean.

It was meant to be a compliment.

So are you tryign to say that is that it gets stuck at 6500? That's pretty serious I guess!

My response wasn't what I meant to say. Yes, thanks for the compliment.

Yes, it will get stuck at ~6500 rpm. From that point, it SLOWLY continues. I NEVER say it get to the 7K rpm range last night and I was topping 3rd gear out.

I was going to do the EL guage cluster swap 2 years ago. I had all the parts....but I need to have my 4WS light operational. I track my car so I NEED to know if it is working or not.
