Default Civic Help!!

i have a 92 civic lx with the d16z6, every time i take it past 5,000rpm the check engine light will come on. The car will run fine with the engine light on and i can shut the car off and start it back up and the light will go away. As long as i drive it normal the light will never come on....does anyone have any ideas???

VTEC pressure switch broken?

pull a code from the ecu, will be 100x easier than trying to figure it out like this.

you'll have to get the code before anyone can help. But don't be suprised if your vtec controller ends up being the problem. They are notorious for causing more harm than good.

first make sure you have enough oil in the car. then check the solenoid screen and make sure its not clogged. Did you lower the vtec engagement with the vtec controller? If so, maybe you aren't making enough oil pressure at that rpm. Also check the wiring and make sure that is good (mainly the ground) before you start buying new parts.
