your friend said it has h23a3 or you found that on the engine?

from what i understand the h23a3 is a 2.2l vtec accord engine produced from 96-98 in eurpoe i think not 100% sure but its a start. and hp wise i saw somewhere 155 again not 100% sure but its a start.

I have an H23a3 too after the previous owner blew the timing belt. Same **** as the regular H23, 160hp. Used in Rovers in Europe.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by M2B4 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">your friend said it has h23a3 or you found that on the engine?

If it was an 2.2l vtec the engine code would be h22 not h23 .

He was thinking it's the H23A vtec engine that was in Euro Accord wagons in 99-00, but Cottonwoodz proved the H23a3 is the same as an H23a1.

The H23A has the same bore & stroke as the std. H23a1 or h23a3, but it has a 10.6:1 compression, an H22 vtec head, & 55mm mains (safer at high revs), oh & it's open deck which allows for more aggressive tuning. I have one that I'll be putting a Stage 3 H22 head on & putting in my EF hatch. It's going to be a blast.

It's just a regular H23 non-vtec met in Accords and Rovers in Europe. Nothing special.

Hoping to find some help........

Bought a 94 Prelude with a blown up h23a1. I was completely aware of the blown motor and got a great deal on the 94 as well as a 93 with a replacement motor. So, we started swapping the good motor in and.... surprise..... the 93 has the h23a3. The motor is in and starts.... but I have a few questions because it's just not sounding quite right. It seems to have a "tick " when idling. We haven't done anything about the knock sensor, and need advice from someone who has done this swap. Also trying to figure out what wiring harness is on the h23a3. How do I tell if it's from the Euro Accord or the 93 Prelude? And which ECU should we use, we think we have 2 h23a1 ECUs. And finally the vacuum lines, how are they different?

Any help or advice will be appreciated, would like toget a chance to drive it now that all the snow is gone!

I have a 94 prelude I'm building, when I got the car it had a h22a4 but had a tap, well tap turned into knock and now it's swap time. Got a h23a3 out of an automatic 93 prelude, had 161x on it. So I'm trying to use this h22a4 head on this motor, got the head bolted on the h23, oil plug pulled, new head gasket cams bolted on. Well now I'm into the timing and this is the issue I have, it says on everything I've read that you have to use the h22a inner cam gear but it won't go on the h23 camshaft... and non of the gears match up. I still have the h22 cam gears, h23 waterpump, h23 gear. Can't use the h22 timing belt cuz it won't match to the water pump or cam gear. Can't use the h23 timing belt cuz it won't match to the cams... so what do I do here??

u have your info backwards u need to use the h22 timing stuff lol u match the head to the block not the block to the head
and i never heard of using h23a1(a3) head on a h22 block seems like a downgrade to me lol

The h22 gear won't fit the shaft is what im getting at... the hole isn't big enough to go over the shaft.

We still don't know why you're using an h23 camshaft.

I'm not using a h23 camshaft either. H22 complete head on top of the h23. This issue I'm have is the h22 crank gear won't go onto the crank. Can't use the h23 crank gear cuz it doesn't match the h22 cam gears

This was the reason we thought you were using an h23 camshaft.
