on my d16z6 at higher rpms third gear will grind for me, when i downshift from 5th to 3rd it will grind then go in. I also have a problem with my reverse grinding, i searched this and found that puttin in 1st then reverse will solve it, and it solved my reverse grind. But i still have that problemwith my 3rd grinding. Is it a bad syncho? Will Pennzoil Synchromesh help??

 

my vote is for bad syncro. depending on haw bad it is the syncromesh may work. some people say it works other dont. goood luck though.

 

Yeah man I have the same problem and I drive a 96 EX but it only grinds every once in a while synchro going bad!

 

First try some fresh tranny fluid. Drain and fill your trans with 1.9 qts of Honda MTF. If fresh fluid dosn't help your problem then start worrying about bad syncros.

 

if the fluid doesnt work, dont try to replace the synchros, just buy a new tranny. youll save time, money, and time... possibly a little more money too

 

i have the same problem with my EJ8...my 3rd also grinds when i'm a lil under 2500....it actually pops out too...but above 3k its fine...unless i downshift to 3rd...it makes this reaking noise...kills me everytime..haha...i'm planning to change my tranny fluid pretty soon well c if it fixes it...

 

reverse is not syncronized. You need to be at a complete stop or else its gon' grinddd. Get new fluid, and only get Honda MTF, never ever motor oil. You can also try GM syncromesh, i've heard good things about it, but i only use Honda MTF.
