jdm h22a, how to tell exactly what year and what dizzy cap do i use???
like title says, i know the usdm h22a1 dizzy cap doesnt work, so what cap do i use from what car/engine/year??? also, i know stuff varies on the obd I h22 between 92 and 95, so how can i tell exactly what year the engine is??? ive heard of the crank pulley bolt being different and i think the pcv valve is different, what can i measure to be sure???
thanks
thanks
I know where you can find the year of the engine. It's in between the 1 and 2 header (I think) maybe 3 and 4th header, but anyway it's between one of the headers. So you have to remove the heat shield and there's a clock like symbol with and arrow. The #'s on the clock are the months of the year i.e if the arrow is pointing at the 2 then it's February. There's a # in the middle of the clock and that's the year of the engine, however if the arrow is pointing at 6 (June) or more then you add 1 year to what the # of the middle is. For mine it said 92 in the middle of the clock, but the arrow was pointing at 6 so the year of the engine is a 93. I could be wrong, but that's how I found out.
did they make the 92's in japan with h22? did they have a jdm f22 non si modle like we did?
h22a jdm vtec's came out in japan in '91
when you did the swap. you either should have re-used h23 dizzy/external coil or you probably need to buy a usdm one, its just easier to find stuff that way

My JDM H22 (92) is an internal coil and I used a cap from a newer Civic Si I believe the guy gave me one from a 99 or 2000. If you have the old one take it in with you and compare just have the shop pull a few off the shelf.

having to go out and buy a whole new dist and convert the jdm internal coil dist thats been in the car for 2 years back to external is the easy way??? if the civic si dist cap works on the internal h22a like someone said i would say that is easier

well i meant by not changing the thing in the first place
it is a much better option to do it during the swap. if you didn't do the swap, then maybe i can see why it would be a bit more of a problem. there is no benefit from keeping the internal distributor while making it into an external distributor is.

it's not hard at all. all you do is take off the old dizzy, put on the h23a1, find a place to put the coil, set timing, you're set!
like I said earlier, if you want to keep your internal coil dizzy, you can use a 90-93 accord cap also.
