i have a d16y7. with a hks catback system, and a short ram intake. if i buy some cam gears will they help at all???

if you're not doing anything to the head (i.e. cams, etc) then don't bother.

 

You only have 1 cam gear , but no you won't really benefit from it with that setup

 

You will barely see any gain from it at all. In your case the only thing it will really do is make adjusting your cam timing a bit easier, something that you shouldn't be playing with anyway unless you know what you're doing.

Bottom line, if you aren't doing anything with the cams or valvetrain, there is almost no reason to have them.

 

really depends in my opinion. cam gear/s just shift your powerband in a mostly stock setup.
