Default My new Project: Honda CR-X (mugen, "glasstop", rollcage, B18C...)

Firms that helped me with great prices on their parts

BIG THANKS TO:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Goal (to look like this in the end)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here it is my new chasis for my new project...
Car came without engine and tranny, cause I'll put the engine from civic HB (tuned B16A2)...the thing was that I wanted to do stich welding on my civic and put in roll cage (welded and FIA approved), but when I wanted to start on the project we found out that the civic chassis is already too much stretched altough I had struit bars, chassis stretched between passanger area and engine bay.
So I decide it to go with CRX this time and do it perfect !

So here is the plan for it:
Exterior:
- iVT or at your place SiR front conv.
- iVT rear tail lights conv.
- whole mugen body kit (replica taken from original mugen body kit)
- glass top (with little luck)
- mugen MR5 rims or volk TE37 bronse
Interior:
- rollbar (cage)
- non folding racing seats
- 1.5 DX rear seat (if I'll get that one)
Engine:
- B16A2 + hydro tranny +200BHP
the one from civic more info. on my site Welcome to HondaAddict.com

So the things I already got:
- iVT hood (orig. japan one )
- iVT front lights
- iVT rear lights
and much more needs to be bought

Some photos of the car
(I got this one in very mint condition and without any rust, interior was like new)

Rear lights (have to do some work on them, gotthemlike this )

New front look

And the thing I did, so I can take the whole car apart and still be movable
(now it's already painted and ready to hold the car on those for stands)

Will keep adding new things
(but project will prolly take me 2years - money is the biggest problem )

Yesterday I wanted to put my car on that stand but I did a small calculating error , car couldn't be lift so high and if I did lift it, it would simply be to high, so today I'll redo that stand and lower it and then I'll try again...

This is the engine that is goin' in
(got some new parts to replace old ones: skunk2 stgII cams + cam gears + oil catch can + I did two new vents in the valve cover )

Modiffied B16A2 with hydro gearbox and hydro clutch pedal...

- B16A2 engine 1993 from honda civic 1.6 vti vtec
- Hydraulic transmisson
- CPS forged race pistons (OUT)
- ENDYN forged pistons High CR NA (IN)
- Integra TypeR cam shafts (S2 stII goin' in)
- Integra TypeR cam gears (S2 goin' in)
- Integra TypeR reatiners
- Integra TypeR valves
- Integra TypeR valve springs
- Integra TypeR oil pan
- Integra TypeR LSD
- Head modiffication (prepaired for racing - port, polished, valve job...)
- Crank shaft and flywheel fully modiffied lighten and balanced
- Oil pump modiffication
- HASport engine mounts
- HASport shift linkage
- ECU optimized by Senica Motorsport http://www.senicamotorsport.com
- Engine modiffied by Brane Pogacar (very well known slovenian rally mechanic)
- Custom CF intake for APEXi
- 68STR TB
- ARP head studs
- Golden Eagle seal
- DeVito lightweight SS racing exhaust 2.5"
- Bisimoto engenering 4-1 header

So I hope that till the end of the project I'll do some work on IM or get myself ITBs

Seats were in very mint condition like new, but they won't go in this car, maybe I'll put them in my civic sedan 90' (or if'll get good money for them I'll sell them), cause in CRX are goin' race seats (black non-folding)...

You want to store these seats.

_TRUST ME ON THIS_

I have non reclining sparco's in mine, and on rare occasions I put the stock ones back in for long distances. I am so ******* happy that I stored my mint crx seats to use them myself.
No money in the world would have been enough to compansate for the fact that I can sit my royal bum in my own fresh seats.

I already have racing seat OMP in my civic and I must say that I'm very pleased with them, I did lots of long distances. To drag races in other countrys (CRO,BiH...)
But maybe they are so comfy becouse it's made for track and not for rally...and the bottom of that seat OMP is not solid like the other ones but it's flexible...

Pics of currnet seat (but in CRX it's goin black one with out those ears)

(don't mind the interior on that pic I just did the 6th gen dash conv. and red wheel got changed in black leather )

Looks like a really fun project!

May want to weld something to the tops of those pads to help 'index' the car so that there is no possible chance of the car accidentally sliding off the top if you lean too hard on it, or when the car vibrates while you roll it (cause it will shake and vibrate), it won't "walk" off the tops. That would suck Also, some larger wheels would help it roll a lot easier. I've built a couple of these things in the past, so just trying to give helping advice based on what i've learned

You won't believe it, today I put CRX on that stand and roll it back and forwad at backyard and what happend, wheel got stuck in some kind of rift and when pushed hard I broke that wheel, so now I have to change those wheels for bigger once ...**** happens' but what can we do, one more lesson for next time....

You're right those head protectors really were bitch until I get used to them, you look through those holes that are made in there, you get used to it
but I won't buy that kind of seat again...

some good news, bought new wheels bigger and stronger ones and did that safety on the tops of those pads like ComposiMo adviced, thank for that one...it really is much safer now for the rex...

So here are some new photos of my progress

Link under the photos is for larger photos

So now I can start on my project...first strip everything from the inside and outside and then all must be cleaned for stitch weliding and then I'll take it to some guy in here that makes FIA aproved roll bars to mekae me one (welded on chassis)

Almost there, all parts that are under the car and in the car have already been removed, so now I must remove all the exterior parts and windows and then I can start with my project, first scrap all that **** down and stitch weld the chassis and then take it to a shop to put roll cage in...but first I'll have to do that stand for rotating car, so I can scrap all that **** under the car

New photos
