DropZone coilovers, feedback, reviews, experience...
Hi, i am looking to get some coilovers for my EK. I dont know too much about suspension, i just took a quick look on ebay and found these, i was wondering how are these coilovers, i havent really heard of DropZone before so any feedback would be appreciated.
Thank You
Thank You
I should mention that i am looking for a pretty soft ride, i dont want my car to ve bumpy, i want it somewhat soft but good handling as well.
Thanks
Thanks
spend good money on a GOOD quality setup.
that dropzone stuff blows.
look into Ground control coil overs, or Eibach lowering springs, H&R lowering springs, and then as far as shocks look into KYB AGX's, Koni "red's", Tokicko Illiminas (sp).

oh ****, i used to have these on my hatch . . . and they suck. hope that(^^^^) doesnt happen to the kid i sold them to
I know this is old, but they are installed wrong... The threaded end is weak and goes ontop (where there isnt going to be any pressure pushing down on them)... Thats why that happened... Not too mention, they are missing the locking ring, VERY unsafe!
That said, yea stay away from dropzones... I had a set on my CRX and they rode like ****...

coilover is not designed for comfort ride, they are stiff. just like ruka saidz.. if u want comfort ride. get shocks and lower springs

Wrongski, the load is the same at all points along the shock/spring. The only difference is that with the sleeve on top there's not that weird shearing effect from the flared bottom of the shock. Granted they're still crap but install played a big part as well. I bet that car was slammed to the bumpstops and the driver hit a big pothole or something...
Just get the Neuspeed Cup Kit...I know they're $600+sh for us Accord guys, I imagine they'll be like $200 for you Civic dudes...

i don't know where you got that generalization from, but that's not correct
but to contribute to the thread DO NOT buy dropzone sleeveovers, they're grade A++ trash, stick with a good shock/spring combo like this guy said, or if you want A COMFORTABLE RIDE in a COILOVER get a set on Tein SS's or function & form with a 10/8 spring rate setup, i have the SS's on my EJ1 and they're very comfy for what they are, but can be tweaked to give a good thrill in the twisties as well for what they are

recomend getting full coilover set like skunk2 pro series or the omni power.....the ride is much better with a full kit not jus coilovers and some after market shocks

Get some Neuspeed or H&R sports springs...the ride is very good...comfortable and barely bumpy.

You said I was wrong, and then said basically the same thing I did about them being install incorrectly, just used different wording? But I dont think you understand what I meant...
The bottom of the perches hold the weight of the car, when you place the weaker threaded end on the bottom (and place 400 or so lbs from that corner of the car on it) they will infact break (as you see in the pictures)... As you notice, the top of the perches arent holding any of the load... The load of the car is from the ring (that the spring sits on) on down to the bottom of the perch which sits on the shock... So the tops of the perches do not actually hold any of the cars weight... This is where the threaded end should be (not holding any of the weight)...
