Negative things of having remote start?
I have an 01 Accord V6 with a Clifford RSX 3.5 alarm, and I just bought the Remote start module (DEI 556U). I was wondering if theres any problems with having remote start, like ignition problems in the furture or anything else. Thank You
Technically, the alarm is doing the same thing as a key turning in the cylinder. It's temporarily giving +12V to the starter wire. It's the same with your key. If you notice, you turn the key to ACC, then IG, then START, but after the engine starts and you release the key, it pops back into the IG position. By holding it in START position, you're giving +12V positive to your starter wire.. just like what the alarm did.
Besides that, I've seen the keysense unit on the car get messed up and not read any keys. If that happens, and I don't know how it happens, you need to go to the dealer and have them match a set of keys to your key cylinder.
Also, if your car is manual tranny, don't leave it in gear. For obvious reasons ofcourse.

u know that the 556u isnt a "remote start module" it is a Transponder box. All it will do is house your transponder key and send the signal to a remote start that hopefully your alarm already has. It is a universal part so u will have to give up one of your keys.
Remote starts are great for cars, the worst thing you can do to a car is drive on a completely cold engine. it preheats the engine for you which will extend the life of your motor. The only real drawback is the fact that it is obviously consuming gas while sitting, but your car gets poor gas mileage if you drive it cold anyway.

The only down side i have had was letting some one see my keys after pressing buttons on the controler, and having them put the car on temp start and not noticing, Car is running when not needed because it starts to keep the inside warm or cool. depending on how I have it set.

With remote start on vehicles with an immobilizer, isn't the key hidden in the black box that connects to the alarm. If so what if a theif finds that black box- he can then start your car the a key? Correct me if im wrong

It depends on the unit being used. some use a second key or you can get a unit that remebers the code of the key.

I always break off the tip of the key and use the plastic handle w/the embedded chip in it.
