Default 92 Honda Accord ex...Solid CEL plus Blinking "D" on the cluster....Need Help...

Hi there...Im looking for some advice and guidence (sp)...

Yesterday the wife went out to start our 92 Honda Accord Ex.....Damn thing wouldn't start. She then told me the car is "broke", so i tried. I went out and after pumping on the gas, checking the oil level, i got it to start, just barely. The CEL turned on and after a few seconds the "D" on the gauge cluster started to blink while the car was in park.

Funny thing about it, i put the car in reverse, backed it up a bit, put in "D" went forward a bit in drive way and turned off the car. I then tried to start it again, strarted normally and no lights from the CEL or blinking "D". Thought it was just a fluke, but it did this whole process later in the evening, (Idaho about 22 degrees). Does weather have anything to do with this...? Changed the air filter, cleaned the battery terminals (had Blue corrosion and low on water) and changed the spark plugs so far, was told to start with the basics. Since i disconnected the battery, my ECU should have been cleared, Well, same problems persist.

I read MANY threads on the SEARCH here, my next step would be check for codes, but im now confused on how to check for CODES in my particular year and model. Where can i find this plug and what pins to insert the paper clip....?

Can anyone help me....? Please let me know, Thanks.

you need to retreive the CEL and the TCU codes so we can understand what may be wrong with the car.

Deathzone Auto Parts (known to 'civilians' as Auto Zone auto parts) may be able to pull the codes on the car for you.
It could be something common to both systems; like the vss sensor or a power interuption. It could be a failure of one (TCM) effecting the other (ECM).
The codes from the scan will help direct us to it.
Has she noticed any issues with the gauges or idiot lights? Specifically the speedo? Sometimes cars will give you (what seem like) unrelated hints to what's going on which point to the cause.

Tried autozone.....They do NOT do cars older than 96.

No, i haven't noticed anything with the speedometer. Any clues how to retrieve the codes for my particular year and model...92 Honda Accord EX...?

You have to jump the service check connector.

The little two wire blue plug is under that kick panel on the passenger side (next to the door speaker when the door is closed (under glove-box and to the right). Open the door, grab the kick panel from the back side (closest to engine) and pull out. Then slide the tab out from under the door sill plastic piece. The plug may be tucked behind something. It has nothing plugged into it. Use a paperclip to connect the two wires together. Turn the key on (don't start) watch the check engine light, and the D4 light. Count the long flashes and short flashes. Long flashes are for the ten spot, short flashes are for the ones spot. Example: Two long flashes, followed by three short flashes would be code #23. You may have to do the procedure a couple of times to get all the codes and to make sure you have them right (from the CEL and D4 light). Good luck.

Thanks...i'll look for that plug beneath the kick panel on the passaners side. When you say, i might have to do this a few times, Does this mean the CEL will give out codes and as well as the D4 light...? I was under the impression the CEL was the only code giver....How long is the pause between codes if there is more than 1 code to report...? Correct me if i'm wrong.

I will have to do this before i drive it, like i mention it earlier im my thread, after driving it a bit the CEL and D4 light Does NOT come on and it starts normally, without any hesitation.

I'll try to this ASAP....this is making me a bit nervous, especially that i drive about 80 miles round trip with this veichle daily.
