Stock motor swap need help fast
I got an 92' hatch civic cx and my 1.5L stock motor died on me and i got a new motor to put in but my mechnic said it was a 1.6L obd2 motor out of an 97' ek civic. I was told that the motor would work but, I need to do something to a plug to make the motor obd1 and run properlly. Am I right? if so what do I need to do and to what plug? Can't I just drop the motor in and it would run right or no cause it's a cx? Any help would be great thanks
I was also just told by the place that sold me the motor that all I have to do is drop the motor in use my cx harness thats in the car and all plugs up to the motor and what ever plugs are left over that are on the engine don't worry about them also the only thing I have to switch over is the distributor is all this true??? any help would be great thanks
you going to have to get what you call a jumper hardness from OBD1 to OBD2. You are also going to need the ECU that goes with that D16y8 motor, which i believe is the P2P program.
You will have to changer your distributor. The one of your Cx is non-VTEC. You should have gotten the Y8 distributor with your MOTOR...........
It will be very difficult to use your CX hardness. You would have to custumize the plugs so that they fit. To tell you the truth...it's a headache to match the sensors wiith the ECU, I wouldn't take that route. that easiest way is to get that OBD2 to OBD1 jumper.
