change my oil
the first oil change I did after I got my car (last summer) was with Mobil One synthetic and it was 10w30, and there was a little difference from before, but like 2000 miles ago I put in 10w30 Amsoil synthetic and that stuff f-ing rocks! the engine is noticeably (not a lot) smoother and a since then I gained a couple avg mpg

I've just started using 0-40 Before you jump on me read the article by bob

So far I like it and it does not degrade as fast as when I was using 5w-30. I drove from Portland OR to L.A. and the oil still looks pretty fresh considering the distance of the drive. I am still on the same oil change. I am very pleased with this. I can't find the exact article but if you want it let me know or I'll just post it when I find it

I would only run 10-30 if you lose a little oil with the 5-30 (thinner). If you don't lose any with the 5-30, stick to that.
I used to use 10-30 in summer and 5-30 in winter, but last year decided to just stick to 5-30 all the time. I've been running Valvoline MaxLife 5w-30 for over 100K miles now, engine now has 224,xxx miles on it and runs like a champ.

i just switched from castrol high mileage 10-30 to royal purple 10-30. i cant honestly say that i noticed any difference. i have 175000 on my motor and it runs like a champ too. about to be boosted again
honestly if you have a lot of miles on your car and you just got it and this is your first oil change in it, you cant just put in a high grade synthetic, there is a chance ofit slipping past the pison rings and getting burnt up, you shoudl start out useing a conventional synthetic blend and from there you can use high mileage synthetic before useing something like Mobil 1
well since your car is still relatively new, i would go with a synthetic oil now rather than waiting. The longer you wait, the more buildup there is that will be sticking to the gaskets which prevents leaks. So if you switch to synthetic later on, it will clean out all the buildup/sludge and cause it to leak. So get a synthetic oil; it doesnt have to be mobile one, but one you can afford. (except pennziol...i wouldnt even throw that **** in my lawnmower)
