Default strut supposed to be like this?

88 crx lower control arms with 5 way tokico. was going to just put on h&r race springs but couldnt...the spring didnt have anywhere to sit...so a coilover sleeve was put onto it which was stable and only put on 1 collar instead of the 2. ran it with the stock tophats. curious as to if this is how all 88 crx and itr rear struts look like. i did search but had trouble finding pictures. as far as i can tell the car is still as hell in the rear no matter if its on setting 1 or 5. the car does rotate quite well though so im not complaining on that. thanks in advance guys

edit: running oem bump stops and also the dust shield that covers the strut. (i have a feeling the cover shouldn't be on there and maybe the car is hitting the bumpstops?)

looks like someone cut the cup out. (isnt that obvious to you? i can even tell by the fuzzy pics someone took a hacksaw to it.)

ppl do that to get a little lower with the adjustable sleeve. which means they were running really low on those shocks. you got em used i guess?

well you cant use the h&r springs you have installed like that. might as well put the other springs back on and set it at a reasonable height.

as far as how low the shocks can go, its not different than any normal shock. im just saying they obviously cut the shock so they can run lower, so the integrity of the shock as it is is totally in question. i hope you didnt pay a lot for em.

i think what you have it with the pics you shows is a good ride height.

i actually got them for a steal...they werent ever driven on either...the car just sat still. that height i thoguht was fine also...i have eibach 600lb FRONT springs that are very short in height and have a helper spring...i was going to put those on and i can have them the right way with the collars and such but i was afraid it may lower to much. i dont want my rear to low compared to my front not to mention i dont wanna blow the strut. the way its shown in the pictures at the moment...i love the way the car drives just bothers me i know its not setup right. i also have black energy suspension bushing in the rear

edit: thanks again tyson for being so patient with me

600lbs springs in the front is absolutely too much for any good. its not about being too much for the shock, its just too much for any kind of driving.

i wouldnt even recommend you use them in the rear. quite frankly, im sure a lot of ppl who could use them would gladly trade you those 600 lbs for something lower. check the end of this thread for any trades. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=553330

what springs do you ahve available?

i have my current complete set of h&r race springs which are on the car...i have just the FRONT eibach 600lb springs with helper springs...i was gonna throw those on the rear but i was afraid it may lower the car too much.

well you can switch the 600 lbs spring front to back. but i really wouldnt recommend it like i said. id find someone to trade you for it for something like 250-350 to put in the rear so you can use that adjustable sleeve, and still use the H&R spring up front. i would not drive like the way you have the springs set in the rear at the moment.

put a for sale or trade post in that thread or reply to someone who might want to make a deal with you. a 600lbs spring in the rear is pretty popular for racing folks. just not what id recommend for you.
