FS (kinda): 1st Gen CRX HF Rear Aluminum Lightweight Drums.
NOT AVAILABLE, DONT PM ME
----------------
putting a feeler out. i have some 1st gen CRX HF rear aluminum drums that are majorly lightweight compared to normal. these would fit 88-91 crx and civics with drums as a drop in replacement. they oddly dont fit any other 1st gen crx or comparable civic, just EF/ED.
these actually are in great shape. lots of material left in the brake liner. much better shape than the ones i currently have on my crx. so im tempted to keep em.
so for now my price is $80 shipped. if you think thats expensive, dont buy.
heres a pic of the ones currently on my car. not the ones im selling.

Do you happen to know the weight difference b/w DX/Si drums and HF drums?
Thanks
I guess that sounds like a reasonable price.

insight drums are very similar actually, if not the same. i have heard you need to slightly modify the insight drums to make em work, but havent gotten a confirmation.

Insight drums are narrower. I checked it out once. 40mm vs 35mm wide, or something like that. You could probably run them, but the Si/CRX brake shoes would be slightly wider than the inside friction surface of the Insight drums. Kinda like a 38" *** in a pair of 36" jeans...

They fit fine on my son's '86 CRX Si. Some 1st gen. folks say you need to swap to the HF backing plates, but that has not been my experience.
Keith, who picked up a fourth pair of these 2 weeks ago...

i called my honda parts guy (hooks me up, great deals, and will search if needed)
he said he cant figure out if the aluminum ones are still available, but he is going to look. the part number is on back order nationally he said, but it doesnt tell him if they are aluminum (i read somewhere they just sell the steel ones now as the oe part for that car)
he is going to get back to me....

Which makes them legal for - as far as the ITCS goes - absolutely no IT car listed.
The ITB HF is listed for model years 88-91, but that's as close as it gets. I don't know about HC.

All this crap about saving weight you guys give me on LCAs, and you go ape crazy over 3lbs on some brake drums. Yeah, its rotational, but its so close to the hub, its impact is pretty nill.
yeah, and i totally admit its bling.
ive never professed any performance gain.
i think its looks cool with the fins. and ill give anyone props to someone who notices.

8lbs a side over disks- 16lbs of unsprung rotational weight with no drawbacks seems worth a few minutes to me. and i'm pretty sure that after selling the disks/calipers i came out ahead on money.
plus they'll look blingtastic (well, to the 2 people who notice, everyone else thinks "wtf? disks are better , y0!") on my car.
edit: well, i do have to learn this so called "dark art" of working on/ adjusting drums now.
