whatsup, I got a del sol and Ive been wanting to put a sub in it for awhile, but never got around to do it because I wanna put the sub in between the two compartments that are behind the seats, and I was wondering if anyone knew if I could get one somewhere or if anyone has made one?...Im thinking of just makin it myself, its kind of a narrow fit but wanted to hear some input from other people about this....
Im thinking of hooking up an 8 inch JL Audio 8w3v2, but dont no the difference between the D2,D4,D6, and connecting that with a Rockford Fosgate amp but havnt decided on that yet either...would like some opinions on the amp and sub as well, thanks.

Why not just get the JL Audio Stealthbox, works like dream... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=336

Im not interested in the stealthbox cuz I use the 2 compartments in the back, just wanted to know if anyone had attempted to make a sub box in between the two compartments and see if it was a good fit...
btw, anyone know where to get the JL Audio 8w3v2 sub for cheap?...I found one for $140...is that a good deal?

The diff between the D2, D4 and D6 is....
D2 = dual 2 ohm voice coils
D4= dual 4 ohm voice coils
D6= dual 6 ohm voice coils
If you are running one sub and have a mono amp that is 1 ohm stable you want the D2
If you are running a 2ch you want the D4 (unless your amp is 1/2 ohm stable then you can use the D2)
The only time you may want the D6 is if you are running a number of subs that is a multiple of 3

I have a del sol, and I just installed a stealthbox, which means I got a lot of chances to look around behind the body panels.
There is not room for a subwoofer and a decent enclosure between the two storage panels. If you dont want to lose your storage compartments, I'd suggest putting it in the trunk.
Now, if your heart is set on it, I would say make it upward-firing, drill a hole for the sub in the center divot, and line around the area (including the walls of the storage compartment) with fiberglass to seal the enclosure. A sealed enclosure will require smaller air volume for the woofer, and you just might be able to pull it off in there. You will probably have to level out the divot as well, since it's diagonal size is > 8".
As mentioned previously, D-2/D-4/D-6 refers to the voice coils' nominal resistance. D-4's are the most commonly sold 8w3v2. Check your amp to see if it has a nominal impedance reccomendation. I dont know about Rockford Fosgate, but the JL Slash amplifiers will support multiple optimal resistances by detecting the resistance of the atached speakers and adjusting output accordingly (search for RIPS for more details).
