ok so i just went to honda to get my first oil change (750 miles) and the service lady comes out and tells me i do not need one yet because they *** a break in additive to the oil before car is sold... i was just curious if anyone else heard such a thing, needless to say i still got oil change done. just kinda curious

its weird on honda boards they will tell you til they are blue in the face to change the oil at 1000
but honda dealers only go by the book and nothing else 3-5k intervals
oh and forget OEM oil
MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC for the WINNNNNNNN!

I thought bout goin synthetic. I've used castrol syntec in previous cars. I just like knowing the honda dealership I bought it from is the only people workin on my car so if anything happens its taken careof.
as a certified honda technician we have people come in all the time trying to get their oil changed too early.
we recomend that you wait until around 5k for the first change, after that its up to you.

the reason they probally said no is because the motor has rough edges still when it si brand new and up unitl 5000 miles and these edges need to be rounded off and made to seal everything right. By going 5000 miles on the factory oil then switch you motor will last longer, one last thing if you go synthetic go royal purple used it for years love it

There is absolutely no benefit in changing your oil more frequently than recommended in your owner's manual. This will only increase your cost of ownership, and create an unnecessary burden upon the environment by increasing the amount of disposed oil.

The only reason I wouldnt change my oil at any interval I wish is that IF Honda introduces break-in additives to their engine fluid & trans fluid. Being that I have never found actual proof of this (from HONDA) I changed by oil at 200 miles, and 500 miles, then again at 2000 miles. Why the hell not, Ill sacrafic the $20 per change so I can get another 100 miles out of the engine down the road.
To hell with the enviornment!

I work for toyota and we do 1000 mile oil changes. You know they say we have special additives then why do 100 mile oil changes. I change my oil every 2500 but you can do it by the book if you want
