Default vtec ecu

ok, so i have a 99 non-vtec motor (d16y7). i did a mini me swap and bought what i thought was the right ecu. apparently not. supposively i bought the vtec ecu from 96-98? and there is another vtec ecu from 99-00? i thought they were all just d16y8's and had the same ecu? i looked on ebay and found a couple of ecu's that said they were for 99-00 vtec and i found 2 different serial numbers on those ecu's. please please please help me find the right one if anyone is familiar with this. heres the two serial numbers i found:
37820-P2T-A11
37820-P2P-A12

P2P is the D16Y8 SOHC VTEC EX ECU, I'm not sure about the 96-98 and 99-00.

The P2T is for a 99-00 Civic SI B16A2 I believe.

i also just found one that says its from a 97 and the serial was 37820-p2p-a33, could these last 3 numbers just be from the different years? maybe the old ecu i bought didn't work because it came from an A/T or something?

Looks like the 37820-P2P-A33 came from the 96-98 Civic EX's.

I would get one from 99-00 if you could, and get M/T if that's what you have or you will have problems. 96-98 was OBD2a and 99-00 was OBD2b obviously, so there might be some differences between the two ECU's.

What ECU did you buy at first?

Try and find the 37820-P2P-A12

99-00 versions are OBD2b
96-98 versions are OBD2a
you want the OBD2b version to plug into your car.
