Default can an o2 sensor cause this?

been reading...

can a bad o2 sensor (i get a code #1) cause in increase in fuel. like i'm running rich all the time?

i was in 3rd gear at a low speed and my **** was boggling. i don't know if it was because i was too low in a gear but it never happened before until the rewiring of my o2. lol insight is appreciated. anything is cool... i love troubleshooting.
