Default 5lug conversion small problem, gear box bolt/nut! Help please!

I have a 1996 Honda Civic Hatchback CX and I am doing the 5 lug conversion from a 99 civic type r. The front is all complete but I have one little problem as you can see in the picture. The nut that is saposed to have a cotter pin going threw it is too far up and I am wondering which one of the three things I sohuld do: (1)Should i just losen it and then put a cotter pin threw (is the tie rod saposed to have movement up and down) (2)Do I need the nut off a 2000 si (3)Do I need a tie rod off a 2000 civic si? If you need more pictures just let me know I really want to do this the right way and not take any short cuts. Thanks guys!

It's too far up because your balljoint is blown. I suggest getting new tie rods.

Can I just repace the ends of the tie rods? (The casing with all the grease)

I would replace the whole tie rod end (#23 & #26)

53540-S04-013 END, R. TIE ROD
53560-S04-013 END, L. TIE ROD

I would suggest doing what BlueIntegraBoy stated. Just get a new ball joint, it's less messy and it's easier to just have the ball joint pressed out then too try to remove the boot cover and clean the grease .Then , replace the boot and repack it and tie the wire band that holds the boot to the actual ball joint, this sux trust me . So just get part 23 or 26 not sure witch it the side you need, but one it for the left and one for the right.
