Loosen the lug nuts. Jack your ride up. Take your wheel off. take the cotter pin and castle nut off the tie rod end. Theres a nut right before the boot, steering fear box. Loosen that and it should screw right off.
Repeat in reverse. I hope that helped. Good luck!

No inner and outer tie rods are not the same thing. You will need to take off the outer tie rod end and remove the steering rack boot to begine with after that it is pretty self explanatory.

This is true. The inner tie rod ends are further towards the center of the car. What the one guy described earlier was how to replace the outer tie rod ends. Some people say you have to remove the steering rack to replace the inner tie rod ends, but I've seen/heard of people doing it without dropping the rack.

and in response to the guy above me, no need to drop the sterring rack whatsoever. so jack up with car, support with jack stands, and get it high enough to where you have room to work. from there on out, its self explanatory. make sure you lock the tie rod in place once you screw it on. if i remember correctly, its just like the axle nut where you have to punch the side to get it to lock into a groove, and it keep it from backing out.

its not like the axle nuts exactly, its a washer that sits between the rack and the tie rod, you just beat the edges of the washer over the tie rod. i would highly consider taking it to a shop. you do realize that if they come off while driving you could hurt yourself or someone else. labor at my shop to do them is only $35 a side.

DIY. Its real easy. All you do is jack the side of the car up your working with. Brake the lock nut then take a hammer and knock the threads upwards out of the hole then unscrew the outter tie rod. Just try and get the same amount of threads on the new one as the old one. You will have to take it to an alignment shop.

Oh sorry i thought we were doing that. You have to remove the outter then pull the dust cover back so that you can unscrew the inner tie rods. Its pretty easy.

Yes take pics. No, it's not easy. I wouldn't do it without a lift. Most people dont have the right tools. A lift, huge *** wrenches, and a punch.

i do them a little differantly then most people so i will share. keep in mind i do a few of them a month at work, and have found this the easiest way, if you have the tools. remove outer tie rod and bellows boot. cut inner tie rod 1/2" or so after the ball/socket joint. use an air hammer w/ chisel to bend the locks back. then fit a socket on the rest and remove. in order to put the new one on you have to have either a very skinny wrench to fit, or a pipe wrench. once you have it as tight as you can get it, punch the locks back down. put the bellows boot on, and outer tie rod.
