EP ENGINE DEAD, BUT WANTS TO BE BRAUGHT BACK FROM THE DEAD
Hey everyone on HONDA-TECH... I was wondering if there could be anything I could do to help my ep. I would love to buy and A2 for my car but.... I JUST CANT AFFORD IT! Here's the deal... If there is a posibility it can be fixed, I will. If not, Im looking into a k24A2.
The Story:
I was driving in LA a few months back and it was raining hard. Im lowered on Neuspeed race springs and I have a AEM CAI. When I first got my CAI it pushed out my inner fender well liner and well.... it broke. I patched it up with fiber sheet and resin. It worked real well, but it broke about a month before the rain. Once it was raining I was on my way back from picking up my girl and I hit a big *** puddle on the 10 fwy and the engine shut off. People on Ephatch have told me this is not hydrolock due to my engine still being able to run the next day after a jump start. It sounded real bad. I let it run for like 15 minutes then I changed the oil twice to get as much water out as posible cuz there was some (ALOT) in the oil. The car turned on but it sounds very CLACKY. I have tried driving it, but it really wont accelerate and when I switch gears and then take my foot off the gas a little I can here a loud knock and it turns off some times. My friend said the sound is knocking (very bad), and the block may be dead.
So What you guys think? Can anything be done? Im currently in MD but my cars in Cali. Im planning on going back and towing it here to MD in about 2-3 months so me and my uncle can try to fix it. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Sounds like you may have bent a rod. It's very common when ingesting water like you described.
You can probably save the engine you have with a new rod and a few bearings maybe a piston got damaged too, but still alot cheaper to fix than an A2!!!!

I hate to say it man, but you shouldn't have started it after it shut off.
Next time, pull the plugs, crank the motor, and try and get as much water out as possible. Get towed home and change the oil a few times before even attempting to start the car again.
Without hearing the car, my guess would be that you bent some valves. Seems to be common with hydrolock. Depening on how much water the motor ingested its highly possible that you damaged the bottom end also.
Best bet is to do a compression and leak down test. That will help you figure out if your motor is even worth the trouble.

Just from the "Honda" on the valve cover, I'd say CRV. I'd ask JHP to be sure, though.

NAW!... Im not gonna get the one from JHP. I e-mailed them, and they said that the engine is the CRV or ACCORD.
THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW
I sure as hell don't want a K24A4.
OH YEAH... I know that one of thr valves must have bent cuz my friend heard it and told me thats what it was.
I was just wondering if the block is still salvagable. Can you tell by just hearing it, cuz it still turns on.... I know this is a dumb question........ lol

Bingo, compression and leak down test will give you a very good idea of the damage that has been done.
You can sometimes hear bent valves depending on severity, do you have any CELs?
