speedometer and tach

are the speedometer and the tachometer controlled by the ecu?

on older cars i can safely say NO they are not.

on newer cars i dunno if they are or not

they recieve an output signal from the ECU. the info comes from the VSS.

my old 89 legend and alot of honda at that time have cable driven cluster, all the newer honda have digital signal now
