Default B16A Fluctuating idle

Hi there,

I'm not too sure where to start, but my idle fluctuates from about 1100-600 rpm. What could possible cause this and where should I start looking? All vaccum lines 'appear' to be good, coolant is full. Not sure what else to look for. Any help would be awesome, thanks.

My valve cover breather line is not connected. It is just left bare. Would this do anything?

Engine: 1995 JDM B16A

well it could be your fast idle valve.
you could have a air leak in your manifold. it could be a bad gasket or your manifold might be cracked. that was my problem. you find out by spraying carb cleaner where your head gasket is if your rpms drop and your car sounds like its going to turn off then you have to replace the gasket. if it is your gasket and decide to replace it check the manifold to see if its okay it could be cracked. trust me i thought it was my gasket and when i took off my manifold i had cracks in it around the runners. thats all i can think of, hope you find the problem

oh i didnt see that the pcv valve is not in. plug it in. that could be your problem. if you dont have one just go to honda and buy one. its not that much and if you need hose just its only like a dollar something per feet

okay you pcv is probly located under the manifold. well i have a gsr and thats where mine is. so check there. but if its just the valve cover breather dont worry about that, it wouldnt cause that. i know alot of people who leave that bare

this is where you pcv might be located

I can't remember off hand. I'll have to take a look after work tonight. How many should there be, and what are you leading to?

I'm also going to check the fast idle valve.
