Someone put me in the direction of some good pants for street and future track use.
Currently I have oxtar boots, full gauntlet gloves, helmet and joe rocket alter ego jacket.
I wear jeans for pants, I know dumb, this is my next purchase.
I want to do track days this summer/fall (if not then the following spring.) I want to have some nice leathers to wear of course to said track days.....but I'm far from serious and/or frequent track riding.
The question:
I was going to buy some alter ego pants....but I think it would be better if I bought some pants that are going to provide me good protection for the track as well as street. Can anyone suggest a pair of nice (affordable) pants which I could comfortably wear on the street (not all out race pants) and also zip to a leather jacket which I will purchase in the future??? This way I don't have to buy the alter ego pants for the street AND leather pants for the track.
Yes, having both would be ideal, but tell that to my wallet.

Hey Steve-
Thanks for nothing.

I've never raced, will not race for years (if ever), will hopefully do a couple track days this riding season (nothing too extreme.) Why would I buy a dedicated race suit?

Dedicated leather pants. Forgo the textile/street pants for now since you already wear jeans. If you plan on doing any spirited riding, the leathers will go further than textile pants.
As for which ones, that depends on your preference. Are you an A* man, or JR man? Or a Dainese quee..man?
For JR, the Speedmaster and Blaster pants have a full circumference zip which is usually the bare necessity for a 2piece at a track.

Just get a two piece suit man...that way you can pick and choose what you wear.

You don't need to be on a track to wear a suit. All my friends that ride canyons on the weekend wear full leather suits as well as backprotectors and race boots. More **** happens on the streets than at the tracks.

Alright...
Its between A* and Joe Rocket.
I am looking at the A* track leather pants:
http://www.newenough.com/alpin...e.htm
Or one of the two Joe rocket perforated leather pants:
http://www.newenough.com/joe_r...e.htm
http://www.newenough.com/joe_r...e.htm
Anyone have any experience with any of these 3? They both have leather jackets I can purchase which will zip to the full circumference pants. And i like the styling of all 3.
Is perforated at a disatvantage to the non-perforated? As far as protection?

Well, these pants are right around $300. I would like something that I can wear with my Alter Ego jacket in the summer when its hot out. A suit does not provide that versatility.
Plus with a 2 piece, I can buy the pants now and the jacket later. Thus not emptying my bank account all at once.

this is a full suit and is only $340. not too bad.

Thank you for your efforts, but I've already seen that thread. Unfortunately no one in that thread had any experience. The ONLY thing mentioned about shift is that they are backed Fox and that somone thinks they are as comfy as A*.

I don't believe A* and JR zippers are compatible. And I'm pretty sure most track groups wont let you run with textile pants in the regular groups.

I am aware of this. Which is why all the pants I have listed are leather. Also, I will be purchasing a matching leather jacket in the near future of the same brand - that is unless I purchase this shift suit.

Bought the Shift 2-piece suit today.

I'll post pics and a review when I get it in.
Thanks for everybody's help.
