Default Motor Flush?

What are your thoughts on using it? I've heard that the detergents in it are too harsh for our motors, is this true?

An old mechanics trick is to run a quart of auto tranny fluid through the engine for a minute making sure not to rev the engine and keeping it at idle (or you'll damage the engine). Than drain it all out, maybe flush the engine with a quart of oil and then fill it back up.

I don't see it in the owners manual nor in the service coupons (e.g. 30k, 60k, etc. service specials)
As long as you don't add Slick 50 or some other ****, and change the oil often and while the oil is hot, flushing is probably not needed.

I heard some motor flushes might contain some detergents that are too strong and harsh for our seals. I actually did GaryLube's ATF trick and my seals are just fine. Which reminds me I need to do another motor flush

I use stp engine flush at least twice a year. Pour in current oil, then start the car and run it at 2000 rpm for 10- 20 mins then drain the oil and change filters and replace with new oil. Trust me does no harm and you will be surprised what comes out.
