intermediate shaft question
ok, so im in the process of getting the half shaft...i look it up on ebay and i find one for around $130. then i go to the acura dealership and the ******* tried to sell me one for $330. then i went to autozone and they have one for 120. now heres my question, the half shaft on autozone was called a CV half shaft axle. WTH iz that? it looks similar to the intermediate shafts i've been browsing through, but it doesnt look exactly the same. so uhh...help? anyone?
Axle is a general technical term for it.
Halfshaft is used to describe one of the two axles connecting to the transaxle On front wheel drive vehicles.
CV joint means Constant velocity joint and that's part of the axle/half shaft that allows it to change angle at high rotational speeds. Also responsible for the infamous "clicking' sound upon steering.
Autozone sells poor quality parts which will probably last half the lifetime of OEM parts. They work but aren't identical to OEM parts.

In addition to what he said, the intermediate shaft is what connects your tranny to your axle on the driver-side. The passenger side axle connects directly to the tranny. The dealership is prolly trying to sell you an axle and intermediate shaft to be replaced.
