Brake pads for track days , what options do I have ?
I´m looking for a new set of brake pads for my car after my Ferodos couldn´t take it any more.
The car in question is a 89 CRX with a GSR swap. Before the swap I was very happy with the Ferodo DS2500 which lasted a whole season of track days and daily driving, after the swap though my new set disappeared in 2 track days.
Are there any brake pads which will be able to do double duty for track days and daily driving and still be rotor friendly ? My car has SiR brakes and calipers from a 99 Si , so brake pads will have to be made for the 99-00 Si.
Anyone have som input on what options I have , also is there any point in upgrading my rear pads , running OEM in the rear now.

I had tired so many brakes pads when I was still DD my track car.. I could not find anything that could do both well. Either the race pads would chew up the rotors on the street and not last or the "performance" street pads would fade on the track..
your best option it to get a set of track pads/rotor and a street set. it only takes 15 min to change them at the track.
What I wound up with was some axis ultimates for the street (front and rear) and some Colbalt friction spec B for the front for track days.

I figured as much , will probably be using separate sets for DD and track days then.

Any good places to shop for brake pads , must ship to Europe.

Carbotech is great, and wont tear up your rotors. XP8's are very friendly.... swap them at home before the event and drive to the track.

They will stop you on the street. but you will be out of the temp range they work in. you get accelerated wear and very worn rotors.
when I was changing the pads at the track I almost doubled the life of the track pad (vs driving to the track).

Carbotech 11009s up front, bobcats in the rear.
Rotor friendly. 88 CRX B18c with type r brakes. Happy with the set up. Used Carbotechs for years.

I've driven to track on them a couple of times, but not often enough to notice a ton of rotor wear.
I think corey used to DD VR's? IIRC, he's put a lot of street miles on those pads.

To be honest I have not street driven the VR's only spec B's.

It seems that the Cobalt Spec VR are getting a lot of love , seems those will be my choice (spec B doesn´t seem to be made for 99-00 Si). Thanks for the help everyone
