T1R Header Install
Thinking about buying the T1R response Header from R&D and was wondering if there is anything that can be done before using the header to avoid those ugly *** blue spots ....Is there something i need to do after turning the car on for the first time with the new header. Thanks.
Just clean it real good with some stainless polish after install but before turning the car on for the first time. After that, who cares anyway? My Toda header doesnt look that nice really but I didnt buy it for how it looks

oh yeah, wear latex gloves while installing it, moving it, or anythinging it... oils from your hands will worsen matters you're concerned with.
after install, before you start it up, just simply wipe the whole header down with your basic rubbing alchohol and let dry
stainless steel polish will only give you more color faster, after all it is a polish, and what does pretty much all polish have in it??
no matter what you're going to get color unless you do what white rocket said, rubbing alchohol just frees it from dirt and oils, but no matter what, like i said before these things will get there from normal driving

Yep and never let your friends touch it with their bare hands and wear gloves when you install it. Should be alright, but may need occasional polishing after that if you still want to keep it that same color.

I agree!
And you might even see an extra horse or two...
Besides you will never have to worry about cleaning it, salt, rust or anything. And if you get it done at a good place they have lifetime guaranties for their coatings...
Search for jet coatings or ceramic coatings in google.

I'm honoured
As for the markings, they develop over time due to the heat. Just don't let it be touched with bare hands.

The oil from your finger tips will etch the surface once it gets hot. You MUST make sure it is completely clean before install/heat up.
Eventually, though, no matter what you do, dirt and what not will build up and you will have to clean it as someone stated above.
