Header install - - - Safe?

do you mean its a 1 peice header? If so it all depends on the brand and quality of the header. if its a POS off Ebay with poor welds then i would say there is a possiblity that the welds could fail and the header could crack.

there shouldnt be a problem. at least is somewhat of a brand name. i i was thinkin some of the non named headers on ebay saying CHROME Type R header and stuff like that. but that header will work and shouldnt have much to worry about.

I want to see it break, that would be something to see.
In other words man, i have never seen one break (like that) EVER so you have nothing to worry about.

Re: (unbelievableEG)
If your worried about to breaking from accelerating get a flex-pipe from http://www.kteller.com . Take it up to your local muffler shop have them weld some flanges on it. Then mount it inbetween the header and the cat, but it is REALLY not necessary.

I think the danger is not in the header breaking off, but your cyl head warping because the exhaust is not mounted to the chassis, only the cat, which would allow for flexion. Then you may develop valve problems or exhaust leakage. A good solution would be to get a bracket, weld it on to the exhaust pipes and mount it there to the cassis in front of the cat where the stock one may have been mounted.

Re: Header install - - - Safe? (sans)
yea, there is one bracker that was on the stock header but its a helluva bitch to get out, but it doesnt mount to the downpipe, it mounts to the runners and into the shortblock :\ so im gonna see what i can do with that piece
here is a thread about this guy running open header, and i think his was mounted the same way. the welds at the runners cracked...
