Well, I finally got the call from the insurance today. We are FINALLY settling. I am getting a little more than i paid, but unfortunetly, my bad credit-high interest rate loan has added a **** load of interest, so I am in the hole over a grand.
I decided to move and will have a garage. Maybe I can do another R, but i dont know right now. Thanks for everyone's support and DOWN WITH THE F&$KING THEIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

wow, you got yourself in a sticky situation. regardless, i do believe that gap insurance would have protected this. (???) hopefully you will be able to consider my R more. there are a couple other interested, but not serious buyers.

Do they do this to deter false claims? Meaning if you had the car stolen then bought it back you would have the ins co's cash and all the supposedly stolen parts?

That would be my first guess. I would like to buy it back. It was my first R.
Edit: I had gap insurance on that car when I bought it.

I had gap ins on all of the cars I've taken a loan out for. Usually the company that gives you the loan offers the gap ins.

things will get better... right now you have a bad taste in your mouth, as time passes and your read this forum more without currently having one, it'll suck you back in and you'll get another one in due time, after you have your garage. trust me

Once again, I am sorry for your loss, but don't let it discourage you from another ITR. Once you havea place to store it, think about another.

Get an S2000

I strongly advise everyone to get gap insurance!!! Say you buy a type R that is immaculate for 25k, Its a 97 but mint condition and you feel that it is worth that much. Next day it gets stolen, ins says its worth 15k, without ins you will pay 10k for a car that you dont have. Gap insurance will pay that "gap" of 10k.
I have seen a couple of people here get quite a bit more in return for thier 01' R's. I thought you might have settled for closer to 20K.
Did you have a crappy insurance company? I used to work for State Farm and my agents office paid out like $21K a year ago on an 01' R.
Sorry to hear about the bad luck. Maybe good karma is coming your way.

Just settled with my insurance company as well. After tax and minus my $500 deductable, I came away with $18,000. Could've been better, maybe worse for an 01 with 50k on it. Little did I know the worst was yet to come last night in my new S2000.
