Default 96 DX HATCH**Guage lights**DO NOT WORK

Ok i already searched so my guage lights just stopped working and i cant figure what the hell is wrong. They started to get dimmer and dimmer until they stopped working all together. When i bought the car there was a piece of **** 1987 accord tape player rigged up to work in there, and it statrted to happen as soon as i unhooked the dam thing, and then hooked it back up because the cd player i had was not working. The memory dosent work on the radio, just another point i should let you know. The only thing i havent checked yet was the dimmer. All the lights went out not just the radio or the guage bezel lights, but all of them, including, the heater controls, shifter lights next to the shifter. When the lights are on the shifter light on the gauge bezel goes off(automatic tranny) so you can see what gear its in when its dark out, but as soon as the lights are off the gear lights go back on. WTF, any suggestions?

Sounds like your alternator's trying to balance power between different components, if you're sure the alternator's good (which it doesn't sound it), make sure its ground is good, sounds. Definately soundsl ike the alternator though, a wiring error wouldn't mess things up like that...

Twas the dimmer switch, fixed that , took it for a spin all was fine. Went out a hour later and the car was all fucked up, the speedo was jumping all over the place, check engine light came on, wierd buzzing noise on and off, lights were diming and getting brighter. What the hell is going on now.
