if it starts to tick and then the tick turns into a gut wrenching KNOCK, then thats a pretty good sign you spun a bearing. You can always drop the oil pan and look for metal shavings. good luck

What if it is the same constant sound and only after the car warms up and in idle?

if its a tick/loud tick only during idle it is most likely a valve problem. But I would service that asap to make sure it isn't that, and not the beginning of a bearing going bad.

The thing is that it is a rebuilt engine and I took all the proper care so that it wouldn't get damaged at startup but the noise does not get any worse, it sounds like a "diesel" car lol. And no it aint ticking cuz I adjusted my valves to spec.

hows your oilpump doing? Make sure enough oils getting in all of the cylinders.... because it might be the beginning of the bigger, bearing problem.

I'm in the process of trading for a H22 Prelude and one person that test drove it claimed that it has a spun bearing. I have never dealt with spun bearings before and I have NO clue what sounds/things to look for. The seller told me today that he didn't hear anything, but he's taking the lude to the dealership to have it checked out just to be sure. I will post if I find out anything.

thanks for all the replies...I just learned more stuff!

Oil pump is fine!

Could it be piston to wall clearance? or something like it? what can be done if it is this thing?

I dont think that it could be piston to wall clearance because the noise should go away once the car is warmed up and the pistons are at full expansion.

What else could it be?? I tried the spark plug wires thing and the sound is still there and when you go higher in revs it goes away it can only be heard at idle 700-800 rpm's.

guys if you truely spin a bearing...you wont be able to turn the motor....it wont run

now you could have a bearing on its way out, but it wont last long like that...not if its already making noise....
