Default Call Me Crazy....Turbo

Has anyone even done an turbo install on a bike before. I have some spare turbo goodies laying around and was thinking about trying it out. Ive been looking into it and Ive read that you can run 5-7 psi without have to add any injectors. This would be going on an R1. Help

I believe Mr Turbo has installed several kits on a variety of motorcycles. His website is probably a better resource.

I read somewhere that due to a modern sport bike's high tolerances and already maxed out engine characteristics, turbo'd bikes don't last longer than a few thousand miles before needing a rebuild. Makes sense to me.

I was thinking about that to. I can get a 40 shot for 350 which is a pretty good price.

That seems like much less trouble than a blower.

Then again, squeezing might get addicting...

What do you need more power for? You've got an R1.

On gixxer.com under extreme performance there is alot of info on turbo bikes in general...most of the ideas/principals apply to all f.i. bikes...

I'm boosting my 600 in 3 months with a kit from TurboBikeResearch for 3k bucks...dunno where you are getting 5k from for a kit...although i dunno maybe for a yammy it might be more expensive

hey,
how often can you open your throttle all the way right now and have the front wheel stay down...i'd consider a longer swingarm BEFORE trying to nos/turbo/supercharge an R1. just a thought.

it can be dont and youll make some sick numbers. there is a vid somehwere on the net of a guy on a turbo busa wheeling to like 140.

personally i would go with the juice instead. you can lay down the extra power when you want it. not just when the turbine wheel spins quickly.

Stay away from Mr Turbo stuff. Had one of his kits on my Busa and didnt like it.Slow spooling and not very efficient. I now have an MC X-Press kit on it and LOVE the performance that it gave me!

180HP on that? that doesnt sound safe. i could design a better chassis and suspension. i would be scared to ride that if it had 80.
