Call Me Crazy....Turbo
Has anyone even done an turbo install on a bike before. I have some spare turbo goodies laying around and was thinking about trying it out. Ive been looking into it and Ive read that you can run 5-7 psi without have to add any injectors. This would be going on an R1. Help

Re: Call Me Crazy....Turbo (yimmy)
you're kidding right.... no way would anyone be that stupid to realize turbos have been on bikes for quite some time

Re: Call Me Crazy....Turbo (EngineNoO9)
Well thanks for the info.....
Let me restate my question....Has anyone of this forum ever done a turbo install on a bike https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |
I believe Mr Turbo has installed several kits on a variety of motorcycles. His website is probably a better resource.

Re: (marmaladeboy)
I read somewhere that due to a modern sport bike's high tolerances and already maxed out engine characteristics, turbo'd bikes don't last longer than a few thousand miles before needing a rebuild. Makes sense to me.

Re: (marmaladeboy)
Yea Ive been researching it a bit but all the sites dont show a whole lot and I dont wanna pay 5g's for one of their kits. Just thought id kit ht a shot
|
How about N2O?
|
Re: (marmaladeboy)
I was thinking about that to. I can get a 40 shot for 350 which is a pretty good price.

That seems like much less trouble than a blower. Then again, squeezing might get addicting... What do you need more power for? You've got an R1. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |
Re: (marmaladeboy)
I may try the squeeze. Thanks marmalade for your motivation https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: (yimmy)
On gixxer.com under extreme performance there is alot of info on turbo bikes in general...most of the ideas/principals apply to all f.i. bikes...
I'm boosting my 600 in 3 months with a kit from TurboBikeResearch for 3k bucks...dunno where you are getting 5k from for a kit...although i dunno maybe for a yammy it might be more expensive https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
Re: Call Me Crazy....Turbo (yimmy)
hey,
how often can you open your throttle all the way right now and have the front wheel stay down...i'd consider a longer swingarm BEFORE trying to nos/turbo/supercharge an R1. just a thought. |
Re: Call Me Crazy....Turbo (yimmy)
buy a hayabusa and do this http://www.bayarearidersforum....ber=1
|
Re: Call Me Crazy....Turbo (Rednas)
ahh you guys are no fun....and I have pipe, sprocket, stacks, pc3r and I dont have any trouble keeping the front wheel down except in 1st gear.
|
Re: Call Me Crazy....Turbo (yimmy)
Damn. Turbo huh. I already get scared shitless when i open my R1 Full throttle on the freeway or track. I can just imagine having a turbo.

Re: Call Me Crazy....Turbo (trbo823)
I wanted to turbo my gsxr 750. But i am just gonna upgrade the bike to an 05 R1.
If i want more power, ill think about it then. i should have my bike paid off by the time I get my tax returns back. http://www.turbobikeresearch.com is where i go for all my info. just email them, they give you really good info on turboing ur bike. |

this is a mid 10 sec bike, thats in 1979, with bias ply street tires, 19" front tire and MAYBE a 520 out back |
Re: Call Me Crazy....Turbo (MSchu)
it can be dont and youll make some sick numbers. there is a vid somehwere on the net of a guy on a turbo busa wheeling to like 140.
personally i would go with the juice instead. you can lay down the extra power when you want it. not just when the turbine wheel spins quickly. |

Re: (marmaladeboy)
Stay away from Mr Turbo stuff. Had one of his kits on my Busa and didnt like it.Slow spooling and not very efficient. I now have an MC X-Press kit on it and LOVE the performance that it gave me!

Re: (turbopete)
Also, done right, you can see many miles out of your bike turbo'd!
