i just finished my zc re-build and i set my timing but the lowest i could go was 21* tdc........ when i installed the timing belt (the 2nd time) i set the cranks and cams(gears) at tdc and put the belt on everything, let the car warm up and hooked up a timing light at 1st the car was at 24* tdc.....then i retarded the timing (by moving the distributor) and the lowest i got was 21* and stock timing should be 16* + or - 2* help!!

 

sounds like the camshaft timing is off 1 tooth

my guess is the intake cam is off - if exhaust was off, you would probably be getting CEL with code 9
