Default Engine harness help pleaseeee

I have an obd2 car and want to put an obd1 motor in. I have the obd1 engine harness and the obd1 ecu. What do I need or need to do to make this work. My mechanic said theres going to be an issue plugging the harness to my dash, not the ecu. what are my options???? i need to get this motor in asap. Thanks

sorry
putting a 92-95 d15b vtec into a 96 hatch.

I am going to use a 95 si harness and the po8 d15b ecu. The si harness has four connectors. Three plug into the ecu and the other one plugs into the car/dash. The one that plugs into the car does not match the connector on my car. What do I need to do??

Really apreciate any help thanks.

If you have the old harness then you can probably just look up pin out descriptions on the plug coming from the dash and the plug on the harness. Then cut off your old plug and solder the functions of the old harness to the new. i.e. lets say that pin 1 on your old harness was for the tachometer and pin 15 on the new harness is for the tachometer, cut the wire from your new harness (leave yourself enough room to strip and solder a new connection) cut the plug off your old harness. Solder those two wires together. Getting the manual will be really handy incase any voltages changed...you will have the factory specifications to refer back too. This is a fairly envolved task so be sure to be patient, you can't rush this...
Let me know if this doesn't make any sense.

Always use the harness that is already in the car. Not all plugs on another harness will match with your original Chassis plugs.
