Get yourself a manual -it will tell you step-by-step and is the best way to go.
How high in RPM do you think you where when it broke. You may have bent valve/s. If you were in lower RPMs you have more chance that you mihgt be OK.
I have seen a few snap while under 4k, and they were ok, but ones that were in higher RPMs like 6k, 7k, etc -those cars bent valves.
If you were a customer that brought it into the shop, I would feel better by telling you we would need to pull the head and inspect the head/pistons and valves. This is what I would do if it were even my car.
However, it does't seem you could do that work yourself -so maybe just try the timing belt.
By the way -if you did bend valves -you could just either repace what is damaged through a shop -or it might be cheaper just to purchase a long block (from someone like us

changing the timing belt is easy. The hardest part will probably be removing the crank pulley.
Once you get the crankpulley bolt loosened, remove the spark plug wires, valve cover, drivers side mount (you need a jack because the motor will drop), upper lower timing covers. Remove the belt. Install the new one and reinstall the lower timing cover on. Line up the cams and crank to tdc. Slip belt over the cams. Spin the crankpulley cw until the cams advance three teeth and tighten the tensioner. After that i spin the motor by hand to make sure it rotates. Put everything back together and hope you didn't bend any valves. That's about it. Took me 4 hours the first time.

the belt broke at idle, close to 1000rpms, waiting at a red light.
I will try to change the t-belt and see if it starts. Money is tight so getting a new will have to wait. Also does anyone has the parts numbers of the parts that i need to replace?
Thanks again for the help!!!

Given the expense and work involved with getting a new motor, it is worth it to buy a new belt to see if your motor is truly damaged. Also, while you are in there, check the water pump and tensionerto see if they are seized. This could acuse the belt to break. After installing the belt, perform a compression test to see if any valves are bent. And if one or more valves is bent, it is still generally cheaper and easier to just pull the head and have them replaced.
99-2000 si belts are the sam as del sols but the tensioner is a little differnt i think ...i would replace the water pump the tensioner and the oil pump if your funds permit...personally i would pull the head off...and take a peek

You may be in luck since it broke at that low of an idle, it's easy to change the T-belt so just do that and see if any valves are bent, it will run like **** if they are so it will not be hard to figure out. This will be alot less time consuming and cheaper than pulling the head before you even know you need to.
Any T-belt for the B16 will fit, 94-95 Del Sol, 99-00 Si...same length. And I also say if you go in and do the belt, do the Crank seal, cam seal and water pump so you won't have to worry about any of that for another 90k or so.
