Default search is down

i just put on a new dizzy without a itming light and my car is really bogging out and has no power. I'm sure the timing is off and its way retarded, which way do i turn the dizzy to advance it so i can drive around, before i can get to a timing light. and what do i listen for before i stop moving the dizzy? any help would be grateful.

I think if you turn the dizzy towards the firewall then thats advanced timing and towards the front of the car is retarding the timing. Your just better off putting it in the middle till you get your timing light. I am not 100% sure on the advance and retarding of the timing.
