d15z1 minime have any power??
If you're putting a z1 head on any other d series block, yes, but who does that (besides me)?
And a z6 head on a z1 block would prolly be too low compression for a turbo set up, but who knows.

Didnt you just say it felt good in your other thread? I think you're the only one who didnt read my advice before doing it. You've seen the VX pistons, they have a huge dish to create the "swirling" effect that makes the VX have such great gas mileage. The combustion chambers in the head are very small, so that the compression ratio will remain at 9:1. When combined with a normal d-series head that has large combustion chambers (because of the "flat" pistons) this generates an extremely low compression ratio...and coupled with the stupidly long VX tranny you have yourself one shitty setup.
here is your answer: d15z1 block with z6/y8 head, mani, throttle body,is not that bad if you use the p28 ecu. You do have ultra low compression which would be good for turbo. It is by no means quick and its only worth it if you are going from a d15z1 motor. It would def be better with the ex tranny. Do not put a z1 head on anything, its vtec-e and runs 3 valves till vtec and has small tb and mani.
You guys arguing about the compression its like 8.5 or less i forgot. Here is the deal, the z1 comes with smaller cc in the head when spec'd at 9.3. You put a y8 head with bigger cc ur compression drops. It has nothing to do with the pistons huge dish bc that is variable is constant when we talk of swapping heads. BUT, yes there is a but, if u put different pistons say y8, then you should be able to maintain closer to 9.2ish. It wont be the exact ratio as y8/z6 bc the stroke is smaller. Bauleycivic already mentioned this stuff about the small cc in the z1 head.. listen to him!!
cliff notes: z1 mini is only worth doing if you are going from a straight z1 and use the z6/y8 head, mani, tb, and ecu..it basically becomes a low compression jdm d15b..dont start talking mad tyte jdm **** jokes..im referring to the "ex" motor in japan is a 1.5L z6

yeah, the only way to really accomplish anything with a z1 mini-me is swapping out the dished pistons for something else to get the compression ratio up. its almost like doing an ls/vtec build where boost is mainly the objective. the z1 block is known for being a trooper but the head and IM/TB arent good canidates for boost, so in conclusion, a z1 mini-me isnt a bad idea for someone building for boost, it isnt a good idea for someone looking for N/A power, the lower compression will kill any gains you might have seen.
