Start won't start!
Hey there, I have a 90 Accord LX. Maybe someone can help. The car won't start. I can only push start it which works great. Jumping doesn't do it either. I took out the starter and had it tested at the auto store, and it worked fine. I replaced the battey cable going to the starter with no luck. The interior lights and radio work fine. I only hear a click as I step in on the clutch and try to start it. Any ideas??????thanks!
you need to test for voltage from the battery to the solinoid post. Then while someone is turning the key, test for voltage at the starter post. If you get voltage, starter is bad. If no voltage, test for signal voltage to the solinoid while the key is turned. If you get voltage, the solinoid is bad. If no voltage, the problem lies in the wiring to the ignition switch or the switch itsself. When they test a starter they can't put a load on it that causes the kind of current draw that you get when cranking your car so it's not always accurate.
