whatzup...the parentals just got a the new 06 Accord Ex sedan (Auto 4-cyl.) last month and ive been driving it a few times here and there and compared to our 2000 camry LE (Auto 4 cyl.) that we have, the ride of the accord is horrible, like the suspension is stiffer, and basically the overall ride is worse then the camry...just wanna see if other ppl feel the sameway or might just be my accord...please give me your input tnx!
I don't drive a Camry. But I've heard that they ride smoother than an Accord (combination of soft suspension and very soft seats). Of course this makes the Camry handle like Jello. Honda suposedly changed the suspension for 06 (made it stiffer). My 03 rides pretty smooth. But that may have something to do with a softer suspension, and heavier engine (V6). Honda also has very firm seats, but I like them that way. It comes down to this: Camry (smooth ride) Accord (handling) It depends what matters most to you. I did test drive a Camry in 03, and I considered it a grandpa type car (75 year old dad would have probably liked it more than I did). I like more power, and feel for the road.

Hondas have always been a little better in the handling dept. than most of it's competition. I would take the stiffer ride and better handling over a cushy ride and floater, unstable feeling suspension.
car is going to be stiffer than normal for the first 5-6K miles, after that it will ride normally. I like accords over camrys simply because they are a little sportier.
My friend has a 2000 camry and she likes my car much better cause it dosn't have the soft spongy ride that hers has.

I drove a 93 camry v6 station wagon for about 5 years, nice power but less handling etc. and it did feel a lot more "boaty and soft/cushy than my '01 accord 4cyl I have now, Im sure it was a bit heavier though too. I like the Accord, its more fun !

iight tnx for the input guys...I guess I just have to live with the fact that a 6 year old camry feels like a better ride then a brand new accord=/ at least i have the i-vtec :-)
P.S. - I'll try to check the tire pressure and see if that helps, tnx

i've never driven camry's so i can't argue as to whether or not it's smoother or worst, but i like the ride quality of the 06 accord. it's a nice balance between handling and comfort. my dad tried to talk me into buying a camry, but to me, the camry's overall design just isn't appealing. compare a camry and accord side-by-side and the accord definitely looks more sportier and luxurious than the plain vanilla camry.

I had a 98 camry LE 4cyl, and that thing was slow as *****, and the suspension could put me to sleep if I drove for a long time at night. It would be all bouncy over speed bumps and just generally like you guys said the handling was *****. For its weight, the 130hp was not doing it. So now I have a 99 Accord LX 4cyl with a few bolt ons, and I love the handling and extra power. Its generally more sportier of a sedan. The camry is more luxurious. How often do you see a camry with a nice exhaust? I for one dont.
My brother in law has a 2005 camry with the I4 and it is very responsive for a I4. It's a little quieter than my 1998 accord. His car rides softer and the dash layout is very nice with everything within easy reach.
But I would not trade my accord for it. I let my brother drive my car and now he wishes that his car had a V6 ahha.
The camry feels like it is a larger car and if you get the SE V6 or XLE V6 it weighs in at a hefty 3450 lbs versus 3250 for the heaviest accord.
You can't go wrong with a Camry and the reliability is definately better than Honda's at this point (due to Honda's 8 year long tranny problems).

My fiance drives then 2003 accord, V6 coupe (apparently the shocks a bit stiffer then sedan). I dont like the setup, the suspension is stiff and really transmits sudden bumps into my back. My bmw 325ci with konis/oem springs does not transmit the harshness of the accord and of course just handles better. The bmw is tighter, but the shocks dont enter my back. There is something wrong with the setup in the 2003+ Accord V6 setup. My parents have a 2004 sedan v6, and it's a bit tamer then the coupe, but they hate the setup as well and so do I. Of course, they were used to a BMW 5 series and 2001 Camry. They basically fight over who can drive the camry to avoid the accord now. In my opinion, the suspension has a design flaw with too much harshness. The accords are starting to rattle a bit now too ... im assuming the harshness transmitted to the cabin is taking it's toll on the plastic connectors used in the cabin. Being a family commuter, the setup is too stiff IMO for the majority of customers purchasing the car even with the factory 16 inch rim setup.

My parents didnt take a huge test drive over roads they normall travel. For those that do... this may be one reason behind the flat sales of accords while camries continue to break records generation after generation. The auto trannies honda make dont help either.

Are you aware that if you do not count fleet sales the Accord has outsold the Camry every single year since 1992? Also, I think if you have spent too much time in a Camry then you will think the Accord is rough.
The fact is that the Camry rides very soft and the new 06 Accord (I have one) rides a little on the stiff side. BUT if you have ever driven a car made to handle well (Del Sol VTEC, Corvette Z06, Firehawk) you KNOW the Accord still rides very well while maintaining great handling. The Camry on the other hand is just plain boring on what should be an exciting mountain drive.
ALSO, I sure hope the BMW handles better while also riding better considering it's base price is DOUBLE the base price of an Accord. (15x2=30)
