its not really causing any problems. Its there for emissions purposes. It takes all the hydrocarbons from the gastank and instead of putting it in the air it goes back to the intake mani.

I understand how it works. Has anyone done it. I drove to work with it unplugged today and no cels, so I'm sure I'm going to be fine. I am putting a catch can in it's spot.

I wouldn't cut them. I would pop the connectors off saving the pins and then shrink wrap them and tape them back into the wiring harness. People never think about the future of swaps, selling there car or the harness when there done.

there's really no point in removing this... it's not going to increase HP, just save a couple ounces of weight. if it really matters and you're a 9 second car, more power to you. otherwise, your **** going to smell like gasoline.

exactly the point i was trying to make above. There is NO HP increase there is no added torque. Theres nothing good coming from this. If anything its bad. U will fail inspection. Your gonna smell gasoline. You also run a risk of fire. Your decision to do this is a bad one.

If you do it then go under your car following the line that puts the vapers back and cut it there. If you dont then your engine bay is going to smell really bad.

There is no gas smell. I have had one hose from the canister disconected since my swap 6 years ago. No problems. Still no problems now. I put a catch can in it's location, that was the purpose of this. The idea was NOT a bad one. I know quite a few people that have this done, (race cars, in street classes and above) but they did it such a long time ago...I thought I would ask.

I actually did the thread because there isn't much covered on it here, and I was interested in what everyone would say. I guess kind of testing the knowledge a bit. I havent been on this site in so long, I wanted to see how it was now on a relatively easy question. Past simple bolt on questions is where you really find out the knowledge of someone I think. Not that this is one of those situations.

I am not trying to be rude at all, but just wanted to see the experience of some members and maybe get some new insight. Thanks to everyone who posted!

BTW piccilo, you didnt steal anything. I think it's good to add the info on here, since the gas issue is where this has leaded. We should cover all "gas smelling' issues here also so that maybe something can be rulled out, or so we can prove that maybe the smell doesnt apply to the charcoal canister idea at all.

I think without topping off the gas during fill up, your doing just fine, right?

what the other hoses that run off the top of the canister?

speficially, the "dashpot control solenoid valve"

i dont wanna leave random hoses unplugged, and id like to find out specfically what each one is for. i got an EF though, i dont know if it makes a difference.

sorry to bring this one back alive.

I removed mine. I'll be cutting the line for the vent in a few mins when I get my car on the lift. No problems at all, and it helped the engine bay look cleaner.

i wish i could just get rid of mine, but i'm obd2 and it will throw a CEL in a second once it starts running, only reason why is because i'm getting sick of the guessing game of which part is bad and which isn't i've replace like 3 things on the whole evap system and it still give a gas fume smell
