Default Engine Revs on its own.

When I am going to work or been driven for a while and I come to a complete stop the rpm raises a little bit above the 1000 rpm and than its goes down and back up and than down it calms down but as soon I come to another stop a light it happens again. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Does the car have a red light bar on the nose? Does it have a TURBO BOOST button? Does it...talk? *start Knight Rider theme*

Its because the idle screw is set too high. That, or there is a vacuum leak. There's also a chance it has air in the coolant passages, so bleed it correctly.

one time my intake piping had slipped off and it was sucking in air, it was totally messing with the idle, it even died out every now and then, so u can double check that, the vacuum line's probably it though

? that doesn't make any sense. intake air isn't metered by maf, but by map which is after the throttle plate in the intake manifold where is sees vacuum. I don't see how that could have had an effect with your vehicle.

its the PCV valve.. take it off and shake it, if it sounds like theres a small ball rattling inside it, then replace it. if not it could be another vacuum line that went.

could be:

Low on coolant.
Vacuum leak.
Too high of an idle(set it to about 750-850rpm). (someone correct me if i am wrong on that).

EACV could be dirty / warn out. its the thing on the back of the manifold. with a plug to it. check the first three before this one, it takes longer to clean : P.
